Dr Nicola Sarandria - Open letter
He fought for freedom in scientific publication and the need for researchers' rights and fairness in the scientific world in terms of sharing data and results, fighting to bring to light some of his research results of when he was a young researcher and which were hindered by what he considered a "corrupt" system. (His views highlighted in his book "A young medical doctor’s thoughts on life : Fairness in the Scientific World and living a life of truth" link: Amazon). An online library of some of his scientific works is at the following link: Library Online.
Dr Sarandria's medical degree thesis, showed that higher TANs densities were linked to better disease-free survival (DFS) in rectal cancer patients treated with 5-FU (while it was inversely related in patients without 5-FU therapy). This also adds to the evidence that what is now recognised as colorectal cancer can be divided into two types: colon and rectal cancer. He discovered a new association between tumor associated neutrohils and rectal cancer's clinical course.
